What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, and which the browser sends back on later requests, so the site can recognise a returning visitor or remember something between pages. Cookies set by other companies whose code runs inside a page are what allow a person to be followed from one website to another.

This site sets no cookies

StrataSpace sets no cookies of its own, and permits no third party to set cookies through it. Specifically, there are none of the following anywhere on this site:

  • No analytics or audience measurement cookies, and no analytics service of any kind.
  • No advertising cookies, no retargeting tags and no conversion pixels.
  • No social media buttons, embedded posts or share widgets, all of which set cookies when present.
  • No embedded video or audio players from other services.
  • No chat widget, no A/B testing tool, no heatmap or session recording tool.
  • No session identifier, because the site has no accounts, no logins and no forms, and therefore nothing to keep a session for.
  • No preference cookie, because there is no setting on this site that would need remembering.

No cookie name is listed on this page because there is no cookie to name. A cookie policy that listed cookies this site does not set would be inaccurate, and we would rather this page be short and true.

Why there is no consent banner

Consent banners exist so that a site can ask permission before setting cookies that are not strictly necessary. Since this site sets no cookies at all, there is nothing to ask permission for. A banner here would state something untrue about how the site works, so there is not one.

No browser storage, and no fingerprinting

Cookies are not the only way a site can keep or infer information in a browser, so to be complete: this site uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB and no cache-based storage technique. It performs no device or browser fingerprinting — no canvas, font, audio or hardware probing, and no script that assembles an identifier from browser characteristics.

The only JavaScript on the site is a single first-party file that opens the menu on narrow screens and opens the question panels on the comparison page. It is unminified and readable, it makes no network request, and it writes nothing anywhere.

What happens instead

Two things, and only these.

Server logs. The hosting provider’s server records an entry for each request it serves: the IP address, the user agent string, the URL requested, the response status, and the date and time. This is a normal function of a web server rather than a tracking technology, it happens before any page reaches your browser, and it cannot be switched off by declining anything. These logs are kept for 30 days, and the privacy policy explains their purpose, retention and the cross-border disclosure involved.

Nothing else. This site loads no fonts, images, scripts or stylesheets from other hosts. Every file needed to display a page comes from strataspace.online, which means that opening a page here causes no request to any other company’s servers — not to a font service, not to a content delivery network, not to an analytics provider.

Controlling cookies in your browser anyway

Nothing here needs blocking, but you may wish to manage cookies set by other sites. Every major browser lets you do this from its settings, usually under a heading such as Privacy, Security, or Site settings. From there you can generally view the cookies stored for a site and delete them, clear all cookies and site data at once, block cookies set by third parties, or set cookies to be cleared automatically when the browser closes.

Browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies and storage when the window is closed. Blocking cookies broadly will break sign-in on sites that rely on them; it will have no effect on this one.

If this ever changes

We do not intend to add cookies or tracking to this site. If that position ever changed, the sequence would be fixed: this page would be rewritten to list each cookie, its purpose, who sets it and how long it lasts; the privacy policy would be updated to match; and a working consent mechanism would be in place before a single non-essential cookie was set. The change would be published here with a new effective date, and no cookie would appear on this site before that page was accurate.
